Wednesday Walks - Venues

This section has been developed mainly for the leaders of the Wednesday Walks, who have to plan the walk itself and also make the car-sharing arrangements at the meeting place (the Toby Carvery, at Arrowe Park). It provides details of car parking locations from which anyone, with the aid of a 1:25,000 Ordnance Survey Explorer Map, can construct a walk of their own. The O/S Sheet Number and National Grid reference are given for each location.

The walks all start from locations where parking is available, and have been used at some time in the past. In a few cases there may be a only a limited number of places available and in others, such as pubs or restaurants it may be advisable to obtain permission from the landlord or other proprietor, particularly where a large group is involved.

When in the list of locations, clicking on 'Grid Ref' will open, in a separate window, a map from the Streetmap website. This will be centred on the location which will be pinpointed by an outline arrow. Clicking on 'Route' for the appropriate venue will provide leaders with a printable page with details of the route from the Toby Carvery meeting place to the walk starting location. Each page provides several slips for issuing to the car drivers on the day.
